Dear Sir/Madam
Optoelectronics plays an important role in the electronic industry. Fibre optics for fast data transmission, display technology to realise the human interface and show measurement values for instance are only some examples. Here youŽll find information about the latest products, technical articles and much more about optoelectronics.

Short-Wave Infrared Camera (Xenics) The XEVA-FPA-2.5-320 digital imaging camera combines the HgCdTe detector head consisting of a four-stage thermoelectrically cooled (200K) focal plane array of 320x256 pixels, with all the necessary control and communication electronics to operate. It covers the short wave infrared (SWIR) range of 0.85 to 2.5 micrometers, operating PC-driven or stand-alone from one single 12V/5A power supply. Click here
Optical-Fibre Cable (Fujikura) The AirLight high-density optical cable is targeted at micro duct installations within existing or new ducting systems. It is suitable for air blown technology applications using compressed and dry air. Click here
Full-Featured Mini OTDR (Yokogawa) The AQ7270 FiberXplorer is a mini OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) designed to aid the installation and maintenance of core, metro and access networks, including FTTH and PON. It offers high levels of performance in terms of event-separation capability and a short dead zone (less than 80cm) to enable multiple-event detection even when these events are close to one another. 2.2" Display (Data Modul) For a wide range of applications, distributor Data Modul is offering the Hitachi TX06D57VM0AAA 2.2" TFT display, which possesses strong optical-performance traits. The manufacturer guarantees 3 years of product availability for this module to satisfy customers' requirements for long-term product lifespan. Click here
LCD Driver Circuit EMI Filtering Options EMC design and compatibility is a key design parameter for electronic designers creating LCD drivers and interfaces on PDAs and cell phones. The article by Ron Demcko, AVX comes as a result of a study done for a major consumer supplier to compare the effectiveness of various EMI filter options available to designers. Click here
Reflective display technology operates in all light levels Start-up company Liquavista is proposing a new display technology as the ideal solution for mobile and portable displays. The phenomenon is electrowetting, and it uses a cell (for displays, a pixel) containing two immiscible liquids (oil and water). Graham Prophet describes this technology in detail in his article in EDN. Click here
PIC microprocessor drives 20-LED dot- or bar-graph display The circuit described by Noureddine Benabadji from the University of Sciences and Technology in Oran, Algeria, uses only five I/O lines to drive a dotor bar-graph display of 20 LEDs. Although this version of the design uses a small and inexpensive one-time programmable microprocessor you can use other microprocessors with N I/O lines to drive various LEDs. Click here
Microcontroller's single I/O-port line drives a bar-graph display Instrument designs featuring a digital display may benefit from a secondary display that provides an analog version of the displayed parameter. A bar-graph display provides an easily interpreted graphical indicator that allows comparison with its full-scale value, but a conventional microcontroller-based design uses at least one eight-line I/O port to drive an eight-segment-bar-graph LED display. An alternative to minimize the number of required I/O lines shows R Jayapal, PhD from Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd in Trichy, India in his Design Idea in EDN. Click here

Digital TV Conversion Sweeping the World and Impacting TV Market The international migration from analog broadcasting to digital terrestrial television (DTT) marches on with a significant impact on the television set market, reports In-Stat. Many nations have announced an analog broadcast shutoff date, but how they implement this change varies, the high-tech market research firm says. Some countries are allocating spectrum so they can transmit analog and digital broadcasts concurrently for a number of years. Other countries are rolling out DTT regionally and shutting down analog service as the rollout is completed. Click here

Nonlinear Fiber Optics, Fourth Edition, by Govind Agraval Since the 3rd edition appeared, a fast evolution of the field has occurred. The fourth edition of this classic work provides an up-to-date account of the nonlinear phenomena occurring inside optical fibers. The contents include such important topics as self- and cross-phase modulation, stimulated Raman and Brillouin scattering, four-wave mixing, modulation instability, and optical solitons. Many new figures have been added to help illustrate the concepts discussed in the book. Click here
