Triple Video Amplifier (Texas Instruments)
The THS7327 is what Texas Instruments claims to be the first video amplifier with integrated filters capable of handling both analogue RGB signals and digital horizontal and vertical (HV) sync signals on a single chip. The device saves up to 80% board space when compared to traditional amplifier solutions for video systems.

Octal ADC Chips (Analog Devices)
Analog Devices is debuting the first family of octal analogue-to-digital converters (ADCs) to extend to 14 bits. The eight-channel high-speed converters are well-suited for portable medical devices and ultrasound machines where lower power consumption and smaller board space are critical design considerations.

Power-Management Units (National Semiconductor)
Optimised to power mid-range, quad-output applications, such as low-power FPGAs, microprocessors and DSPs, the LP3906 and LP3905 integrated power-management units each feature two high-efficiency buck regulators and two ultra-low-noise, low-dropout regulators.

Charge-Management Chip (Microchip)
The MCP73833 and MCP73834 are single-cell, high-current (1A), Li-ion/Li-polymer linear charge-management controllers. They are fully integrated devices that combine several key charge-management and safety features - a pass transistor as well as current-sense and reverse-discharge protection - on a single chip, eliminating the need for external components.

The difference between latency and settling time for ADCs
Among ADC users, the terms "latency" and "settling time" are sometimes interchangeable. ADC designers, on the other hand, are very clear on the difference between these terms and how these phenomena will affect your application circuits.

Automatic latch-off circuit saves batteries
Although rechargeable batteries offer many advantages, they can suffer damage and shortened service lives if they're fully drained of their charge. The circuit in the Design Idea by Click here

Analog divider uses few components
Although microprocessors may offer more-precise calculations, there's still room for analog-computation techniques in a designer's circuit collection. As a case in point, the analog-divider circuit in David CripeŽs Design Idea offers reasonably good accuracy for the price of a few inexpensive components.

Analog Cutoffs Driving Digital Terrestrial Set Top Box Market
The Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT) Set Top Box (STB) market is poised to surpass $1 billion due to the analog signal cutoff date of Feb. 17, 2009 in the US, and prospects of a large Chinese market, reports In-Stat. As DTT markets mature, the growth in uptake of DTT tuners will continue, aided primarily by increased consumption for second and third TVs, the high-tech market research firm says. The prospects of turning off analog terrestrial broadcasts, coupled with ongoing marketing campaigns, are powerful motivating factors for consumers to adopt the digital platform.
